Slow Cooker Apple Butter
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved the taste of Apple Butter, so when I found a recipe for Apple Butter a couple of years ago I was totally ecstatic. Since then I have modified the recipe a couple of times, each time making a delicious Apple Butter even more tasty, and by using the Crock-Pot it makes the work less tedious. So of course I preferred using the slow cooker for this sweet and decadent recipe! So today I am sharing with you my favorite Slow Cooker Apple Butter Recipe!
Ingredients:
5 lbs Cortland Apples peeled and chopped
1 Cup of sugar
½ Cup of Brown Sugar
3 teaspoons of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon all spice
A dash of salt
Directions:
I like to use a crock-pot liner for recipes like this (definitely helps with cleanup). You can find them at most grocery and department stores, or you can order some on amazon here: slow cooker liners.
Spray the liner lightly with a cooking spray
Combine all of the above ingredients and stir up in the slow cooker. Doesn’t have to be mixed perfectly.
Set slow cooker on high for 1 hour
Then, decrease to low after the first hour–continuing to stew for 10 hours on low. Stirring once every couple of hours.
Crush the apples to a smooth consistency (a potato masher works well).
Fill your jars and enjoy or share with your family and friends (makes a great gift)!
I hope you will post pictures of your results in the comments section. Please share the recipe with a friend or follow me on Pinterest! And, check out my other apple recipe here: for Dutch Apple Cheesecake Pie.
